Fife Bench #47
Surface, Surface, Surface
The Problem: Dedicated space was needed for process oriented assembly work. Moving from task to task in the shop was creating too much inefficiency.
Solution: Build a working surface that can hold numerous stations at once, thus allowing for a whole process to be performed efficiently.
Esthetic: The materials should fit the needs of a work surface, rugged, strong and simple. The wood for the top was reclaimed from an old building demolition in the downtown Seattle area. It was a 5” thick solid Douglas Fur beam. Due to the size and weight of the piece the construction was designed for ease of assembly with leg structures that slot into the table top.
